Twitterfon is a massivly underated app I find but it's so good with it's alerts. I highly recommend.

I think you should consider @Peoplebrowsr. It's similar in style to Tweetdeck, but it's just busting at the seams with functionality. One of the greatest strengths of this app is that its developers are very engaged with their community. They're very responsive to user issues and are constantly making improvements. I highly recommend these folks for the power user.

Tweetie for Mac is the cleanest Mac desktop twitter client, despite less functionality than tweetdeck or seesmic

DestroyTwitter is da bomb. Small, multi-platform, and does what I need.

I'm using twhirl. Great little AIR app that gets the job done. Very simple and well designed. I recommend it

Personally I have used Twirl and DestroyTwitter as apps, yet prefer DestroyTwitter for everyday usage.

Digsby, Digsby's own Twitter "app" has been my longtime favorite because I can look very fast new tweets, it's simple and easy. And new alpha version is maded it faster and add more features. Best Twitter app for Windows.

I am pretty happy with http://twitzap.com for browser based access, it works and is simple to use if I am also and more frequently checking twitter on my iTouch

Skyfire for WinMo/Symbian/Blackberry(soon?) supports Twitter and FB status reading and updating as well as RSS feeds. ( http://get.skyfire.com )

And there's an addon for Firefox I stumbled across but never see it mentioned... seems kind of nice, might be useful for someone, called Snowl ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/... ) that I kind of like, even though I use TweetDeck.

Gravity at http://mobileways.de/products/gravity/gravity/ is a native app for Nokia S60 phones. It's quite feature-rich and sexy-looking. It's a pay-for (US$10) but it has a trial. Worth every cent. Try the alpha releases too - they have all been stable for me and have nice new features. You can always roll-back from within the application.

I'm gonna have to go with DestroyTwitter too. After trying tons of desktop clients, I was blown away by DT's simplicity and performance. It's actually usable and doesn't get in the way like other clients do.

Twitterific for iPhone is totally awesome. The way it displays everything in the same view is great and it doesn't fall into the subview-trap like so many other iPhone apps do. I think maybe many users hesitate to download it because of the sub par Mac version.

I personally love the twitterbar add-on for firefox! It's awesome!

I think DestroyTwitter is one example but from the number of people calling it here, I don't think it is that much underhyped.

My personal preference is Spaz. It's a HTML-based Air app, which for me makes it much faster for interface interactions than other Flash-based Air apps such as TweetDeck, Twirl or even DestroyTwitter, and has a very small footprint (at least on my PC; my brother tried to use it on his Mac, and apparently it takes about 100Mb after lunch, against 15Mb on Windows).

Spaz has pretty much everything I need for day-by-day use, even if there's still some small bugs here and there. It is my client of choice, and I've tried pretty much all the big and not-so-big ones out there.

DestroyTwitter is the most under-hyped. It really is an amazing app.

I've been enjoying Tweetree for quite some time now, and yet I've never seen anyone else using it, ever. It helpfully shows the tweet to which someone was replying (so it makes more sense), displaying them in a tree structure (hence the name of the site).

Believe it or not, the tree structure is still useful, even after the "See all @replies" option was removed. I may see fewer conversations on my own profile page, but when I visit someone else's profile, I get to see all their @replies and the tweets that inspired them (if they were replies made via an actual "reply" link, anyways). Sometimes I end up surfing a few associations deep, adding followees all along the way, because of the conversation view in Tweetree.

Tweetree added advertising to their system recently, but I've been surprised at their ability to blend into my feed, easy to gloss over and yet just as easy to take notice if it's actually something interesting.

All in all, I find I just can't leave! Though Splitweet sounds tempting to check out...

I just took a look at Tweetree, and I'm fascinated. I loved the way they include the content from links directly after the posts. That is pretty much how Twitter should work on the official page.

Oh, of course -- I can't believe I forgot how much I miss that feature when I try something other than Tweetree! I mean think about it: IT SHOWS WHAT PEOPLE ARE LINKING!!!

That means blog posts are shown (and are easy to scroll to read if you want or scroll past to skip if you want), YouTube vids can be viewed, some image sites will show the image so you don't have to click, blip music can be played directly from the feed... This is streamlining at its best, folks.

And so far, the ads have been for things like CDs (of bands I'd actually consider seeing), books, technology (I saw a nice-looking video camera recently), and a few others that have their images blocked by my ad-blocking plugin to my firewall (heeheehee, oops!). I'm surprised at how much the ads aren't bothering me, though: I'm the first to get annoyed at annoying advertising! and it's still new enough to their business model that they claim they're eager to listen to comments and complaints and make tweaks to it! :P

DestroyTwitter is hands down the most underhyped twitter app out there. tweetDeck, and Tweetie are the two most popular off the top of my head. This app should be valued way more than the other two IMO.

a) its sexy, but thats just an opinion
b) it has the functionallity of TweetDeck & Tweetie, yet done better IMO
c) same functionality but its free d) takes up less space on monitor [a big plus for me; 15" right here]
d)doesn't seems to bog down my cpu near as much as Tweetdeck [i only have tweetie for my iphone].
e) oh yeah and did i mention it looks dead sexy

It,s not new, but I love followcost... Check it before following someone new to see how annoying they're going to be. Measured in milliscobles. Brilliant.

I think TwitterFox is pretty nice. It's a Firefox add-on that's pretty simple but does everything i want. TwitterFon is an iPhone app from the same creator, it used to be free, but it has gone commercial and the free version has ugly ads now.

I go back and forth between Tweetie and DestroyTwitter on my desktop. DT is definitely way sleeker and faster. Tweed for the Palm Pre is my only option for now - Palm release your SDK!!

DestroyTwitter! I'm surprised that it doesn't get more press. It's full of features but doesn't take up a ton of room, plus is looks hot! (and if you don't like the colors, you can just customize your own)

I use destroytwitter.com for my desktop app and love it. Keeps me posted all day. Very simple, not annoying, simple to upgrade.

For my HTC Touch Pro (Windows Mobile 6.1) I've recently started using PockeTwit and loving all of the awesome features, how smooth it is. Much better than other my previous mobile app.

I also use and recommend PockeTwit on my WinMo phone; really great stuff... in addition to (primarily) DestroyTwitter on the desktop.

Destroy twitter deserves more hype. Slick interface, small footprint, brilliant memory usage. I don't use any other app.

Definitely Destroy Twitter! Clean interface, super snappy and very cool. TD/SD is wayyyyy too crowded

If you're an Outlook user, TwInbox will work the best for you. Integrating tweets with the power and flexibility of Outlook folder searches is far easier/better than Tweetdeck's (and others) groups. And except for being down during the Twipocalypse weekend, support has been great.

On the mobile side, PocketTwit is superb. Great interface, multiple accts, impressive gps and photo integration.

Gotta go with DestroyTwitter.

I vote DestroyTwitter. I also find myself using tircd with an irc client when I'm feeling saucy, and I've been known to run ttytter from the command line for no particular reason at all.

I failed to mention iTweet.net, when I'm wanting a browser-based option. It's what Twitter's website could and should be.
